Abstract

This research analyzes lessons learned on eco-friendly tourism in the Ban Sa Nam community to assess the success of the tourism environment management and to propose guidelines for tourism environmental management. A combined research method was used and data collection was carried out by interviewing two key informants, a community development worker, community leaders, and a random sampling of 100 tourists.

The results showed that in tourism management, the following are needed: prohibiting tourists from bringing garbage into the community, having waste separation stores, conducting campaigns to use banana leaves to protect the environment, having an organization to support cleanliness, using cloth bags instead of plastics bag, using biodegradable materials, and planting trees. To be successful, the environmental management actions needed are to reduce solid waste, use betel and banana leaves, compost food wastes, prohibit deforestation, etc. The guidelines needed for eco-friendly tourism environmental management are to have a participative community with the network participant, to present positive aspects of environment management such as solid waste, offering robes to Buddhist priests, and not discarding solid waste to reduce the destruction of wildlife, etc.
