A solution of Problems of Thai youths’ love through Hormone the series on basis of Buddhist perspectives

Abstract

Love in Theravada Buddhism are classified into 3 types: 1) Possessed love, originates from sensual lust or Kāmarāga cause troubles (2) Love ties, arises from pure love or Pema, Chanda or aspiration are neutral (3) Selfless love, arises from compassion, mercy or Appamaññā are positive. The doctrinal principles of love are in 3 levels. First, the principles suitable for the love of oneself, are Yonisomanasikāra or critical reflection, Pañca-sila: the Five Precepts and Pañca-dhamma: the five ennobling virtues. Second, the principles suitable for the love of another, are the six directions (Disa), the Sanggahavatthu or principles of kindly treatment and the Gharāvāsa-dhamma: virtues for a good household life. Third, the principle that develops love to loving-kindness or Mettā-appamaññā, is Brahmavihāra or the sublime states of mind. 

Regarding to Hormone the series, problems of Thai youths’ love can be divided into 2 parts and can be solved by the Buddhist Doctrines as follows: Part 1, Problem arises from the youths 1) Growth hormone affects youth’s behavior : solved by developing Yonisomanasikāra and to realize things as they are. 2) Thoughts and attitudes of each actor: solved by cultivated Yonisomanasikāra to reach right understanding, right action and right speech. However, when the problems arise – the solutions are as follows; 2.1 Love to possess for oneself: solved by Pañca-sila and Pañca-dhamma 2.2 Binding love of one another: solved by Six Directions 2.3 Selfless love: solved by Brahmavihāra. Part 2, problems from surrounding environment: 1) Parenting problems: solved by six directions and Gharāvāsa-dhamma 2) Friends and companies: solved by developed true-hearted friends, six directions and Sanggahavatthu 3) Teachers’ role: solved by six directions 4) Social value and advance information technology: solved by cultivated Yonisomanasikāra so the youths can make better choices and use technology in useful way that suit Thai values. However, Brahmavihāra or the sublime states of mind should be cultivated in all parts of love in order to make a pure and true love without expectation in return.
