NUTRITIONAL KNOWLEDGE AND HEALTHY FOOD EATING BEHAVIORS OF STUDENTS IN SURATTHANI RAJABHAT UNIVERSITY

Abstract

          This research aimed to study the nutritional knowledge and nutritional food behaviors of Suratthani Rajabhat students; to compare the nutritional food behaviors with different personal factors; and to study the relationships between the nutritional knowledge and nutritional food behaviors. Data were collected through survey questionnaires. The statistics used in data analysis were the Frequencies, Mean, t-test, F-test, and Pearson’s correlation coefficient.Results revealed that the level of students’ nutritional knowledge as calculated by percent composed of good, fair and low level at 37.17%, 25.42% and 37.42%, respectively. Nutritional knowledge were compared, the students had more score of types of food, food consumption and food healthy, respectively. Food behavior was analyzed and divided into 5 levels, the results found that the purchase decision (3.54±0.43) was in a good level compared to type of food (3.29±0.31), price of food (3.13±0.47), and food habits (3.11±0.42) were in a fair level. Significantpositive correlations at a quite low level were found between nutritional knowledge level and food behaviors. Results in this study should be used as information for developing a nutritional health promotion as appropriate for students.
