A Structural Equation Model of Human Resource Management, Work Motivation and Job Performance among Elderly Worker in The Southern Border Provinces’ Small and Medium Enterprises

The aims of this research were to empirically to determine a structure model of human resource management, work motivation and elderly worker’s
job performance of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the southern border provinces and to examine the mediating effect of work motivation on
relationship between human resource management and elderly worker’s job performance. The self-decisional theory is reviewed in this paper as the theoretical perspectives which guide the development of hypotheses. A survey was conducted by mail to among 683 employees in 179 SMEs located in the southern border provinces. The finding of this research revealed that the proposed model had a good fit. This study also revealed that there is work motivation was full mediator of the relationship between human resource
management and elderly worker’s job performance. The findings of this study offer a constructive contribution to the understanding of psychological processes of work motivation using the paradigm of self-decisional theorists. The research finding can be a guideline for entrepreneur to retain elderly worker and increase their job performance to achieve organizational success sustainable.
