The Study of E-san Folk Music Pattern’s Creation by Mr.Songsak Prathumsint

Abstract

  This article, entitled “The study of E-san Folk Music Pattern’s Creation by Mr. SongsakPrathumsint”, aimed to study the process of E-san Folk Music Pattern’s Creation by Mr. SongsakPrathumsint. It is found that Mr. SongsakPrathumsint was inspired by his father together with his passion in Isan lute. His creation was influenced by old music pattern and folk music along with his imagination and his music background knowledge in Isan folk music. His music pattern can be explained into three patterns as 1) lute solo in PhuThaoHuaTok Morn pattern 2) bandperformance in Lam PlernKaew Na Mah pattern 3) an accompaniment called FornDuengKrokDeungSaak. Mr. Songsak played the Isan lute himself and listened to the rhythms, tempos, moods and musical aestheticnesses before trying the patterns again.  His methods can be used as a model to develop folk music pattern creation in the future.
