Situations and Guidelines for Developing the Usage of Digital Technology for Education of Schools under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 22

Abstract

Digital technology had been used in education both in teaching and learning management, communication, implementation, and work systems development to be modern and efficient. The purposes of this research were (1) to study the situations of using digital technology for education, (2) to compare the situations of using digital technology for education classified by status and school-size, and (3) to find out the guidelines for developing the usage of digital technology for education of schools under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 22. The research was divided into 2 phases: Phase 1, the study of situations of using digital technology for education, the samples were 408 school administrators and teachers who were selected by Stratified Random Sampling; Phase 2, finding guidelines for developing digital technology for education by interviewing experienced, accepted experts and known for the best practice. The informants were 6 people including 3 school administrators and 3 teachers who were selected by Purposive Sampling. Then the suitability and the possibility were assessed by 5 experts who were selected by Purposive Sampling. The instruments use in the research were a questionnaire, a structured interview form, a suitability and possibility form with the discrimination between 0.32-0.85 and the reliability of 0.95. The statistics employed in the research were mean, standard deviation, t-test (Independent Samples), and One-way ANOVA.


              The results were found that 1) using digital technology for education of schools in the opinions of school administrators and teachers were at the high level in overall and in individual aspects. Considering in an individual aspect, it was found that the highest average aspect was online education information reporting which revealed at the high level; whereas the lowest average aspect was digital technology network for education which revealed at the high level. 2) In comparison, the overall situations of using digital technology for education of schools under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 22 classified by status were not different. The comparison of the overall situations of using digital technology for education classified by school-size were statistically significant different at the .01 level. 3) The guidelines for developing the usage of digital technology for education of schools under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 22 consisted of 4 elements including Digital Network Technology for Education, Online education data reporting, Electronic learning media and Information technology equipment. The levels of the suitability were at the highest level in all aspects, and the overall levels of the possibility were at the high level.
