Dyeing and Factors Affecting the Dyeing of Fabrics in Natural Fibers of Nong Khu Yai Villagers Buengboon District Sisaket Province

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to study the dyeing conditions and the factors affecting the dyeing of natural fibers of Nong Khu Yai villagers, Buengboon district, Sisaket Province. The Key performances in this study were 30 people of Nong Khu Yai weaving group member by structured interview methods.


            The study found that Nong Khu Yai village silk weaving group, Buengboon district, Sisaket province prefer to use only natural fibers from silk. They used both chemical and natural colors for dyeing fabrics which mostly obtained from shellac (Krung and Khe) and then fermented with mud to soften the fabric and more beautiful colors. The weavers need about 10 hours per piece to dye. The main process was cleaning fibers before dyeing, then prepare water for dyeing, prepare for color assistant, and dyeing. The advantage of dyeing in its current form is expertise of the dyeing that has been done for many years, however, the disadvantages of dyeing in this form found that fabrics are not durable and uneven color, moreover, it takes along time to dye in each fabric piece.
