ปัจจัยที่มีผลต่อระยะเวลาสําเร็จการศึกษาของมหาบัณฑิต กลุ่มสาขาทรัพยากรและสิ่งแวดล้อม มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล (Factors affecting time-to-degree completion among master’s graduates in the field of resources and environmental studies at Mahidol University)

บทคัดย่อ

ระยะเวลาสำเร็จการศึกษาที่ไม่เป็นไปตามแผนการศึกษาส่งผลโดยตรงต่อนักศึกษา และสะท้อนถึงประสิทธิภาพในการบริหารจัดการหลักสูตร รวมถึงการรักษาคุณภาพการศึกษาในภาพรวมของมหาวิทยาลัย งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อเปรียบเทียบ วิเคราะห์ปัจจัย และพัฒนาแบบจำลองทำนายระยะเวลาสำเร็จการศึกษา เพื่อยกระดับคุณภาพการจัดการศึกษา กลุ่มตัวอย่างคือ ผู้สำเร็จการศึกษาระดับปริญญาโทจากหลักสูตรที่ถูกจัดอยู่ในกลุ่มสาขาด้านทรัพยากรและสิ่งแวดล้อม มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล ระหว่างปีการศึกษา 2553-2567 จำนวน 596 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย คือ แบบบันทึกข้อมูล ทำการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลเปรียบเทียบปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อระยะเวลาสำเร็จการศึกษาโดยใช้สถิติการทดสอบค่าที การวิเคราะห์ความแปรปรวนทางเดียว และวิเคราะห์ปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อการสำเร็จการศึกษา สถิติที่ใช้ คือ การวิเคราะห์การถดถอยพหุคูณ ผลการศึกษาพบว่า ตัวแปรที่มีผลต่อระยะเวลาการศึกษาที่แตกต่างกัน คือ สัญชาติ สถาบันการศึกษาระดับปริญญาตรี เกรดเฉลี่ยสะสมระดับปริญญาตรี การจัดการศึกษาของหลักสูตร ประเภทของหลักสูตร ภาษาที่ใช้ในการเขียนวิทยานิพนธ์/สารนิพนธ์ ประเภทของการเผยแพร่ผลงานและการได้รับทุนการศึกษา ทั้งนี้ พบว่าแบบจำลองมีความเหมาะสมในการอธิบายปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อระยะเวลาสำเร็จการศึกษา (F = 9.879, p < 0.001) โดยอธิบายความแปรปรวนของตัวแปรตามได้ร้อยละ 20.3 (R² = 0.203) ตัวแปรที่มีผลต่อการสำเร็จการศึกษามี 4 ตัวแปร ได้แก่ 1) สัญชาติ 2) ประเภทของสถาบันในระดับปริญญาตรี 3) เกรดเฉลี่ยสะสมระดับปริญญาตรีและ 4) การจัดการศึกษาของหลักสูตร ชี้ให้เห็นว่า ปัจจัยที่ช่วยลดระยะเวลาสำเร็จการศึกษาได้มากที่สุด คือ สัญชาติ (นักศึกษาต่างชาติสำเร็จการศึกษาเร็วกว่า) รองลงมา คือ สำเร็จปริญญาตรีจากมหาวิทยาลัยในกำกับรัฐ ผลการวิจัยนี้สามารถนำไปใช้เป็นแนวทางในการวางแผนและปรับปรุงระบบการจัดการศึกษาระดับบัณฑิตศึกษา เพื่อสนับสนุนการสำเร็จการศึกษาของนักศึกษาได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ

Failure to complete a graduate program within the expected timeframe has direct consequences for students  and reflects the effectiveness of program management, as well as the overall quality assurance of higher education institutions. This research aimed to compare graduation times, identify factors influencing time to graduation, and develop a predictive model for graduation duration in order to enhance the quality of educational management. The sample consisted of 596 graduates from Master’s degree programs categorized under Resources and Environmental Studies at Mahidol University, who completed their studies between academic years 2010 and 2024. The research instrument used was a data recording form. Comparative analysis of factors affecting time-to-degree completion was conducted using t-tests and one-way ANOVA, while multiple linear regression analysis was employed to identify factors influencing graduation outcomes. The findings revealed that nationality, undergraduate institutions, undergraduate GPA, program track, program type, the language used for the thesis/thematic paper, type of publication, and scholarship awards all significantly affected the duration of study. In contrast, age, undergraduate major, study plan, and research type were not significantly associated with time-to-degree completion. The findings also revealed that the model was appropriate for explaining the factors affecting the time to graduation (F = 9.879, p < 0.001), accounting for 20.3% of the variance in the dependent variable (R² = 0.203). Four variables were identified as significant predictors of graduation time: 1) nationality, 2) type of undergraduate institution, 3) undergraduate GPA, and 4) program track. The findings indicate that nationality was the strongest factor associated with a shorter time to graduation, with international students completing their studies more quickly than Thai  students. The second most influential factor was having earned a bachelor’s degree from an autonomous public university. These findings provide practical evidence for planning and improving graduate education management systems to effectively support students in completing their studies within the expected timeframe.
