Guidelines for Developing a Physical Literacy Program for Enhancing Fundamental Movement Development of Children Aged 7-9 Years

Abstract
This research was aimed to find the way in developing a physical literacy program to enhance the development of fundamental movement of children aged 7-9 years old. This research was a exploratory survey research using a embedded design method. Sample used in the research were 1) 390 children, aged 7-9 years old, who were studying under Kamphaeng Phet Primary Educational Service Area Office 1 and 2) 204 teachers who taught physical education for students grade 1-3 in schools under Kamphaeng Phet Primary Educational Service Area Office 1. Tools used in the research were analysis form for relevant documents and research, fundamental movement skills test for children aged 7-9 years old used to assess the development of fundamental movement of the said children, survey form for a physical literacy program to enhance the development of fundamental movement of children aged 7-9 years old, and the semi-structure interview form. The result indicated that the way to develop the physical literacy program to enhance the development of fundamental movement of children aged 7-9 years old included : The physical literacy program to enhance the development of fundamental movement included 9 skills which were walking, running, jumping with 2 legs, rolling of the ball, throwing, hitting the ball with hand, dancing, catching the ball with 2 hands at the chest level, and passing of the bouncing ball. By focusing on the fundamental movement, the skills included non-locomotor movement, locomotor movement, manipulative movement, mixed movement, and movement with other. In different age group, there should be different level of difficulty. The optimal duration to develop the skills was 3 days per week, 60 minutes per day, with a total of 8 weeks. Instrument used in the activity should be varied in size and color.
