THE NEEDS AND GUIDELINES OF CHINESE TEACHING AND LEARNING IN SCHOOL IN NONTHABURI CITY MUNICIPAL AREA

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to investigate the needs for teaching Chinese and guidelines for the schools in Nonthaburi City Municipal Area. The survey and Delphi techniques were used. The results of this research show that the needs for the learning include seven aspects as follows: 1) requirements and needs in teaching Chinese 2) contents of the courses 3) methods and type of teaching Chinese 4) worth and expectations toward Chinese learning 5) policies 6) particularities of teaching Chinese in local areas 7) expectations toward teaching Chinese. The guidelines for teaching Chinese were divided into four aspects as follows: The first aspect was about management, strategies for 5 – 10 years of implementation should be concretely set. The second aspect was about Chinese curriculum, Educational policies should be clear about the curriculum. It should be integrated with locally social and cultural contexts in order to show the connections between knowledge and the curriculum must be consistent with the current social situations in the country and globally social changes. The third aspect was teaching Chinese, The teaching methods should be related to student needs and applicable. And the fourth aspect was about teachers. Teachers should know about teaching process very well.
