DEVELOPMENT OF EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES ON WEBQUEST LESSONS FOR FOREIGN LANGUAGES (ENGLISH) CONTENT AREA IN LOWER SECONDARY LEVEL: ENGLISH PROGRAM SCHOOLS

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to 1) develop Educational Resources on WebQuest Lessons for Foreign Languages(English) Content Area in Lower Secondary Level: English Program Schools 2) evaluate and improve the Educational Resources on WebQuest Lessons for Foreign Languages(English) Content Area in Lower Secondary Level: English Program Schools. The research procedures consisted of three phases: 1) Preparation for WebQuest Educational Resources development, 2) WebQuest Educational Resources development, and 3) Evaluation and improvement of WebQuest Educational Resources. The population used in this research was 158 Thai teachers who taught English in 158 English Program schools throughout the nation. The samples consisted of 32 teachers, selected by means of multistage random sampling from the schools in Bangkok, Nonthaburi and Pathumthani. The research tools comprised of 1) questionnaire for the experts on format of the presentation, technology used and contents in four content areas 2) questionnaire for the samples on format of the presentation, supplementary components and technology used and contents. Frequency distribution, mean and percentage were used to analyze the quantitative data including descriptive narration.

The research findings were as follows: 1) the Educational Resources on WebQuest Lessons for Foreign Languages(English) Content Areas in Lower Secondary Level containing 73 lessons with analysis sheet in 4 content areas: English, Science, Health and Physical Education and Occupation and Technology in three categories based on the difficulty of the language: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced Level under URL: http://aungsanan.wix.com /wq4efl ; 2) the samples were satisfied with all aspects of evaluation: format, contents and supplementary components and technology used at 87.63, 92.83 and 88.7 respectively. The Educational Resources got the highest level of agreement on the contents with the percentage of 89.0. The topics: time saving on the search of effective learning materials; activities promoting collaboration and information retrieval.
