This research aimed to analyze the components of tourist attractions in Chiang Rai Province, tourism logistics, tourists' intention to visit Chiang Rai Province via the new railway line, and to examine the structural relationships among destination attributes, tourism logistics, and motivational factors influencing travel intention to Chiang Rai Province by the new railway. The study population comprised 2,070,061 Thai tourists visiting Chiang Rai Province, with a stratified random sample of 400 respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires administered at tourist attractions across the province.
The findings revealed that the majority of respondents were male, employed in the private sector, and preferred traveling in groups of two to three friends. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was conducted to assess the construct validity of four measurement models: tourist attraction attributes in Chiang Rai Province, tourism logistics factors influencing travel behavior, travel motivation, and intention to visit Chiang Rai Province via the new railway line. All components demonstrated statistically significant Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) values and passed Bartlett's Test of Sphericity at the .05 significance level. The relationships between latent variables and observed variables met all specified criteria.
The Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) analysis indicated that the proposed model achieved an acceptable fit with the empirical data at the 0.001 level of statistical significance (p = .000), with fit indices satisfying all established thresholds (χ²/df = 2.255, CFI = 0.982, TLI = 0.975, RMSEA = 0.056). Notably, tourism logistics factors exerted the highest direct influence on tourists' intention to visit Chiang Rai Province via the Den Chai–Chiang Khong railway line, yielding a total effect of 0.926. These results underscore the critical role of transportation system management in shaping tourist intension.
