Developing Spelling Ability of Cambodian Students Using Spelling Exercises

The purposes of this study were to develop and find the effectiveness of spelling exercises designed for the Cambodian students with an efficiency of 80/80, to investigate the efficiency index of learning management pertaining to spelling of the Cambodian students, and to compare the spelling ability of the Cambodian students before and after the implementation of the spelling exercises. The sample of this study chosen by purposive sampling included 31 Cambodian students under Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s Education Projects for neighboring countries batch #8 studying at Mahasarakham University from May 31 to July 20, 2018. The research tools were seven lesson plans, seven spelling exercises, and a post test with 40 test items. Statistics for data analysis included mean, standard deviation, t-test, and E.I. The findings were as follow: (1) The spelling exercises for the Cambodian students had an efficiency of 79.18/83.63 which corresponded to the set efficiency of 80/80; (2) The efficiency index of learning management about spelling through the use of spelling exercises for the Cambodian students was 0.5606 which equaled to 56.06 percent; and (3) The spelling ability of the Cambodian students after learning through the use of spelling exercises was statistically significant higher at .05 level
