Abstract
ABSTRACT
This research aims to (1) analyze theoretical concepts of Arabic grammar (2) synthesize linguistic knowledge to explain grammatical arguments and (3) present the knowledge of language typology as a reference for language research.
This research employs a documentary research method to analyze the grammatical arguments between Baṣrah and Kufah Schools from Ibn al-anbārī’s work based upon the linguistic theories and framework. The researcher used a diachronic perspective to analyze the arguments issues about phonetic-phonology, morpheme, word and semantic. Also, a synchronic perspective and linguistic grammatical theories analyze the arguments issues about phrase and sentence and to consider the poetic licenses as a language variation. The researcher found that the grammatical arguments between Baṣrah and Kufah Schools indicate the characteristics of the Arabic language prior to becoming a standard language (pre-standardized Arabic). While Kufah School tends to maintain a variety of languages, the Baṣrah school tries to use an analogy method for manipulating the grammatical disciplines in certain criteria. However, from an of grammatical arguments of two schools, the Arabic language characteristics such as glottal stop deletion, zero form of copula verb and definiteness strategies, conform to the language language typology in other languages, Especially in Semitic and Afro-Asiatic languages families, of which Arabic language is a member.
