A Call from Korea: A South Korean Woman Writer’s Rhetoric
Main Article Content
Abstract
Abstract
Women writers’ rhetoric is an attempt to establish women’s stories (which have been lost or neglected) and to reflect women’s various points of views and thoughts to be heard or discussed in the society which may maintain conventional cultures. Such stories can be seen in various forms—letters, journals, columns and literary works. This article, therefore, has investigated Kyung-sook Shin’s, one of the well-known writers in South Korea, novel titled Please Look after Mother, the bestseller and winner of the Man Asian Literary Prize 2012, in order to (1) see what type of contents she presents to her readers and (2) her rhetorical style.
