โพธารามเป็นอำเภอหนึ่งในจังหวัดราชบุรี ประกอบด้วยหลายชาติพันธุ์ มีทั้งที่อาศัยอยู่เฉพาะกลุ่มของตนและอาศัยอยู่รวมกับชาติพันธุ์อื่น ชาวจีนเป็นชาติพันธุ์กลุ่มแรก ๆ ที่อพยพเข้ามาอยู่ในอำเภอโพธาราม ประกอบอาชีพค้าขายอย่างกว้างขวางจนพัฒนามาเป็นตลาด ปัจจุบัน         ชาวไทยเชื้อสายจีนในอำเภอโพธารามยังมีการปฏิบัติสืบสานประเพณีวัฒนธรรมจีน แต่การปฏิบัติดังกล่าวได้จางไปมากจากแบบอย่างบรรพบุรุษ จนกล่าวได้ว่าประเพณีวัฒนธรรมจีนกำลังเลือนหายไป

Abstract

Photharam is one of the districts of Ratchaburi province where multi-ethnic groups reside with their own group, and with other ethnic groups. The Chinese were the early pioneers of Photharam district. They made their living by trading. Blooming trade back then expanded to a market. Although Thais with Chinese origin still preserved the Chinese traditions, some of their traditional practices have declined substantially. It is believed that the Chinese culture and traditions of Photharam are in a continuing decline.
