This paper presents a linguistic study and analysis of the use of acronyms in different media such as by computer on the Internet or by cell phone sending SMS. These two ways of media make the communication faster and worldwide. This social phenomena associated with the Internet is called cyber culture. The data analyzed consist of English acronyms because they are
widely used. This article not only studies the forms and the meanings of acronyms but also analyses linguistically to look into their parts of speech, orthography, phonology, morphology, syntax and semantic levels. Results show that word formation process of acronyms is a contraction or reduction of a word phrase and sentence in ordinary language, forming the initial
components viewed as a subtype of blending. In syntactic level a contraction of a sentence is made by omitting subject or main verb. Recognizing acronyms and their definitions is based on the social status, the social situation, the participantsZ relationship and the perception of the
relationships between the knowledge and objects under discussion.
