Abstract

This research was conducted to 1) develop augmented reality book based on process of reading development and bilingual learning to enhance reading skills on Thai basic word for grade 1 students, 2) examine the effective of the AR book usage, and 3) explore the students’ satisfaction of the AR book. The samples included 60 first-grade students of Ban Bangmaruad School.  They were divided into an experimental group of 30 students and a controlled group of 30 students.  The instruments covered (1) the quality assessment form of AR book, (2) AR book based on process of reading development and bilingual learning to enhance reading skills on Thai basic word for grade 1, (3) AR learning lesson plan, (4) traditional learning lesson plan, (5) the reading skill achievement test in Thai basic word for grade 1 students, and (6) satisfaction questionnaire towards the AR book usage.  Mean, standard deviation and t-test were employed in data analysis.

The research findings were as follows. 1) The quality of the AR book was at a high level (M = 4.64, S.D. = 0.40) with efficiency (E1/E2) = 81.27/80.63 2) The reading skill in Thai basic word of grade 1 students found that achievement test score of the experimental group (M = 32.10, S.D. = 4.31) was higher than that of the controlled group (M = 23.50, S.D. = 10.30) at a significant level of .01.  3) The students’ satisfaction towards the AR book was at the highest level (M = 3.75, S.D. of 0.53).
