Abstract

This study aimed (1) to examine the components of learner development activities that foster excellence in Thai music among secondary school students, and (2) to propose guidelines for promoting such activities at Piboonbumpen Demonstration School, Burapha University. A qualitative approach was employed, beginning with document analysis, followed by expert validation of the research instruments, and data collection from Thai music specialists and relevant stakeholders through purposive focus group discussions.

The findings revealed four key components of learner development activities: (1) Teachers – possessing expertise in Thai music, upholding ethics, and planning lessons effectively; (2) Students – demonstrating positive attitudes and readiness for development; (3) Curriculum – integrating theory and practice, ensuring flexibility, and incorporating modern media; and (4) Teaching Process – applying clear, comprehensible, and inspiring methods. The proposed guidelines include organizing competitions, maintaining continuous practice, fostering positive attitudes, involving family members, designing sequential curricula connected to real life and culture, emphasizing hands-on practice, and encouraging creativity. The study highlights that success in fostering excellence in Thai music education requires systematic planning and collaboration among all stakeholders across every component of the learning process.
