Investigation of Errors in Thai Writing Undergraduate Students in Suratthani Rajabhat University Faculty of Education During the Academic Year 2015

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to investigate the errors in Thai writing of the third year undergraduate students in Faculty of Education at Suratthani Rajabhat University. The subjects were 494 who enrolled in essay writing course academic year 2015 selected by using the purposive sampling technique. The instrument used in this study was the evaluation form of errors in Thai writing. The used were frequency and percentage.

The result found that there were two types of errors which were 1) word use; the research revealed that parts of speech, spoken language use in written language, spelling, and excessive words,
2) sentence use; the research revealed that incorrect sentence formation, incomplete sentences, and word/sentence order. These two types were showed from the highest respectively.The causes of making errors were from lacking of knowledge and understanding of the word and sentence use, other language interference, less writing practicing, being careless, and environment.
