The objectives of this research were (1) to study influences of the causal factors on service performance of trainee employees in retail business enterprises; and (2) to investigate the consistency of causal relationship model based on hypothesis and empirical data. A questionnaire was used as the research tool to collect data from 680 students of private higher education institutions who were serving as trainee employees in retail business enterprises. The data was analyzed using the structural equation modeling (SEM). The results indicated that the adjusted model of casual relationship that affected service performance of trainee employees in retail business enterprises fitted well with the empirical data. The dedicated effort had been directly and positively influenced by job resources most, to be followed by job acceptance. Besides, the results of service performance had been directly and positively influenced by dedicated effort most, to be followed by job acceptance and job resources. Hence, the dedicated effort was the only mediator variable that had the direct influence on service performance of trainee employees in retail business enterprises.
