Abstract
The purposes of this research were to study the financial structure, and financial spending patterns of households in the community around Wat Mongkhon Chaipattana area, in order to develop a suitable financial planning process at the household level. The mixed-method research was used in this study. The research sample consisted of 337 household heads or members of the community around Wat Mongkhon Chaipattana area. The research informants comprised people in the following four groups: 10 people in the community leaders group, 10 people in the community representatives group, 3 people in the academics group, and 3 people in the provincial government officials group. The research instruments were a questionnaire, an interview form, and a focus group discussion form. The data were analyzed using the frequency, percentage, documentary analysis, and content analysis. As the results of this research, an approach for the household financial and budget planning suitable for households in the community around Wat Mongkhon Chaipattana area was obtained. The approach was called the S-A-V-E approach, which had the meaning as follows: S = Smart, which stands for the smart planning that should be specific, measurable, accountable, realistic, and time-bound: A = Attitude, which stands for attitude of the community people that needs to be changed concerning planning on savings and investment: V = Value, which stands for the added value of the savings by investment to increase the value of the savings: and E = Evaluation, which stands for evaluation on a regular basis.
