COMMUNITY’S CONSERVATION WITH COMMUNITY’S LIFE AND CULTURAL ENVIRONMENT OF HUAI LUANG BASIN’S COMMUNITIES, NONG KHAI PROVINCE

Abstract

The objectives of this research are as follows: 1) to study the conservation of the way of life, culture, environment, and belief in Huai Luang River Mouth communities, Nong Khai province; and 2) to study the guidelines for conservation of the way of life and cultural environment of Huai Luang River Mouth communities, Nong Khai province. The findings of this research are as follows: 1) The conservation of the way of life, culture, environment and belief in Huai Luang River Mouth communities includes the conservation of the following four aspects: (1) in the aspect of the way of life, residents of Huai Luang River Mouth communities still respect the seniors, provide helps and supports to each other, are united and regularly collaborate in public beneficial activities;      (2) in the aspect of culture, residents of Huai Luang River Mouth communities participate in doing activities to promote and restore cultural sites and collaborate in preservation of the culture and traditions; (3) in the aspect of environment, residents of Huai Luang River Mouth communities have maintained the water sources, love and cherish natural resources, and encourage the future generations to pay close attention to the importance of natural resources; also, they regularly collaborate in improvement and development of water sources; and (4) in the aspect of belief, residents of Huai Luang River Mouth communities pay respect to the sacred entities (both visible and invisible), and participate in creating the awareness of community members to appreciate the values of the past and instill the beliefs in the younger generations. 2) The guidelines for conservation of the way of life and cultural environment of Huai Luang River Mouth communities comprise 3 issues: (1) conservation; (2) restoration and (3) application.
