THE GUIELINES FOR DEVELOPMENT OF 21ST CENTURY SKILLS OF STUDENTS IN THE COMPUTER EDUCATION PROGRAM, FACULTY OF EDUCATION, RAJANAGARINDRA RAJABHAT UNIVERSITY

Abstract
The purposes of this research were (1) to study the 21st century skills of students in the Computer Education Program of the Faculty of Education, Rajanagarindra Rajabhat University; and (2) to synthesis data of brainstorming and propose guidelines for development of the 21st Century skills of the students. This study was a mixed-method research. The research samples were 49 regular students in the Computer Education Program, who were studying in the second semester of the 2019 academic year, obtained by cluster sampling; and the key research informants were 9 purposively selected experts for brainstorming. The research tools included a questionnaire, a brainstorm recording form, and an evaluation and certifying form of guidelines for self-development. The statistics for data analysis were the frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation; while data from brainstorming were synthesized with content analysis.
The research findings showed that the sample group had every group of 21st Century skills at the high level. The groups of 21st Century skills were the following: (1) the skill group for self-management under social conditions, (2) the skill group to be applied in problem management, and (3) the group of basic skills required for interaction. The 21st century skill development guidelines were the acronym of “SELF DEVELOPMENT”, which could be explained as follows: Sharing and Exchange Experience (S), Efficiency and Effectiveness (E), Leaning Outcome (L), Field Trip (F), Dialogue (D), Endeavor (E), Vision (V), Evaluation (E), Lifelong Learning (L), Online Learning (O), Project-Based Development (P), Motivation (M), Eager (E), Never Compare Yourself to Others (N), and Time Management (T).
