ที่พักอาศัยประเภททาวน์เฮ้าส์/ทาวน์โฮม มักพบกันทั่วไปว่ามีการต่อเติมหรือดัดแปลง ทำให้เกิดความสนใจ
ว่าเหตุใดจึงไม่ออกแบบหรือก่อสร้างให้มีพื้นที่ที่เพียงพอ และตอบสนองต่อความต้องการของผู้อยู่อาศัยตั้งแต่แรกเพื่อไม่ต้องต่อเติมหรือดัดแปลงพื้นที่ในภายหลัง ซึ่งอาจมีหลากหลายเหตุผล จึงทำให้ต้องศึกษาค้นคว้า เพื่อให้เกิดความเข้าใจสามารถวิเคราะห์หาหลักเกณฑ์เปรียบเทียบและปรับแก้ไขต่อไปในอนาคต
งานวิจัยนี้จึงมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาการต่อเติมหรือดัดแปลงทาวน์เฮ้าส์/ทาวน์โฮมในกรุงเทพมหานครถึง
