Abstract

At the present time, the factors that contribute to effective English language learning management are learning management planning, selecting instructional activities, and choosing materials that are relevant to learners. These involve concepts and strategies that help teachers in systematic thinking. They also develop English language learning management concepts. The purposes of this academic article are 1) to present learning concepts of Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) after having synthesized; and 2) to integrate CLIL framework to promote English reading comprehension skills in pop culture context of secondary students. The study showed that Content and Language Integrated Learning aims to focus on teaching and learning of both content and language. This is based on 4Cs framework of Content and Language Integrated Learning, which are Content, Cognition, Communication, and Culture. Content and Language Integrated Learning plays an important role in English reading instruction as CLIL fosters students’ reading comprehension skills, increases their knowledge about the content, develops critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and raises their cultural awareness as well as intercultural understanding.
