APPLYING SCOR MODEL FOR BUSINESS PROCESS STANDARDIZATION: A CASE STUDY OF A SMALL CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS TRADING COMPANY
Main Article Content
Abstract
This qualitative research is aimed to propose an approach to standardizing business processes for SMEs by using SCOR as a reference model. To achieve this goal, the methodology of case study research is applied, interviewing all employees of a small building materials trading company involved in the key processes.
As a result, this research shows the consequences of non-standardized business processes, such as duplication of effort, long response times, and recurring errors. To avoid these undesirable outcomes, this study proposes an approach to business process standardization that begins by empathizing with stakeholders to understand their goals, activities, and problems with current processes. Then, these activities must be organized to align with levels 1-3 of SCOR processes. Consequently, relevant problems with these activities should be analyzed for their causes and effects. Moreover, grouping similar problems could help the organization develop strategies to solve all relevant problems. Consequently, this approach could help the case study organization standardize its business process and to solve existing issues.
