THE DEVELOPMENT OF A MASSIVE OPEN ONLINE COURSE ON GO AND BUSINESS THINKING SKILLS DEVELOPMENT SUBJECT

Abstract

The objectives of this research were (1) to develop open online lessons for the mass in the GO Game and Business Thinking Skills Development Course; (2) to compare the learners’ learning achievements before and after learning from the open online lessons for the mass in the GO Game and Business Thinking Skills Development Course; and (3) to study the satisfaction of learners with the open online lessons for the mass.


The research sample consisted of 30 students and persons who were interested in this course, obtained by simple random sampling. The research instruments were (1) a learning achievement test on the GO Game and Business Thinking Skills Development Course; (2) a questionnaire on satisfaction with the open online lessons for the mass; and (3) the open online lessons for the mass in the GO Game and Business Thinking Skills Development Course. Statistics for data analysis were the descriptive statistics of mean and standard deviation, and inferential statistics of paired t-test.


The research results were as follows: (1) the developed open online lessons for the mass in the GO Game and Business Thinking Skills Development Course comprised 10 lessons: (1.1) the first step to GO, (1.2) three playing rules and one forbidden rule of GO, (1.3) playing strategies in various stages, (1.4) strength and weakness of units, (1.5) basic capturing techniques, (1.6) advanced capturing techniques, (1.7) basics of two eyes, (1.8) more about two eyes, (1.9) GO society , and (1.10) benefits of learning GO; the content validity indices of the open online lessons for the mass in the GO Game and Business Thinking Skills Development Course ranged from 0.67 to 1.00; (2) the post-learning achievement of the learners who learned from the open online lessons for the mass was significantly higher than their pre-learning achievement at the .05 level of statistical significance; and (3) the learners’ overall satisfaction with the open online lessons for the mass in the GO Game and Business Thinking Skills Development Course was at the high level (Mean = 4.13, S.D. = 0.78).
