THE LESSON LEARNED TO ENHANCE POTENTIAL OF CREATIVE COMMUNITY-BASED TOURISM BASED ON LOCAL IDENTITY

Abstract
This study aimed to (1) collect the learned lessons from the potential enhancement of creative community-based tourism based on local identity and (2) analyze the determinants to enhance the potential of creative community-based tourism based on local identity. This research is a qualitative research aiming to learn the lessons on participating communities from 20 communities that organize community-based tourism. Data were collected using a preliminary data collecting form, organizing focus group discussion involving stakeholders in the local area, and synthesizing the data on upgrading potential of creative community-based tourism based on local identity. The results were as follows:
There were 4 potentials enhanced through creative community-based tourism based on local identity which were (1) community identity potential, (2) community participation potential, (3) stakeholder integration potential, and (4) creative tourism development potential. There were 8 determinants supporting the potential enhancement of community-based tourism which were (1) identity and the wisdom of the community, (2) community involvement, (3) community leaders, (4) actual tourist visitation, (5) fair distribution of tourism income, (6) academic supports, (7) network partnership agencies, and (8) the development of community-based tourism.
