Main Article Content
Abstract
The purposes of this research were (1) to develop and examine the efficiency of the Handbook for Agricultural Study Center Based on New Theory of Mr. Samrong Taengplub; (2) to study the results of using the Handbook for promoting knowledge of sufficiency economy philosophy and the new theory in agriculture; and (3) to study the users’ satisfaction with the Handbook. The research sample consisted of 100 visitors who visited Mr. Samrong Taengplub’s Agricultural Study Center Based on New Theory, obtained by simple random sampling technique. The employed data collecting instruments were the Handbook for Agricultural Study Center Based on New Theory, a learning achievement test for pre-testing and post-testing, and an assessment scale on the user’s satisfaction with the Handbook. Statistics used for data analysis were the mean, percentage, standard deviation, and dependent t-test.
The research results showed that the efficiency of the developed Handbook was at 80.44/84.66, which passed the efficiency criterion. The contents of the Handbook comprised the philosophy of sufficiency economy, the new theory of agriculture, and implementation of sufficiency economy and the new agricultural theory in the Study Center. The comparison of the Handbook users’ learning achievement scores before and after using the Handbook showed the users’ post-learning mean score was significantly higher than their pre-learning mean score at the .05 level of statistical significance. It was also found that the overall satisfaction of the users with the Handbook was at the high level. When their satisfactions with the specific aspects of the Handbook were considered, it was found that their top satisfaction was with its contents and format design. Consequently, the research results indicate that the Handbook is worthy of use as a supplementary document for study tour at the Agricultural Study Center Based on New Theory of Mr. Samrong Taengplub in leaning the sufficiency economy and the new agricultural theory, together with its applications both in agricultural practice and daily living activities for those people who are interested.
