Abstract

This research aims to study business potential in the border trade area by employing
a Social Network Analysis Model (SNA) to measure subjective responses. The survey was
conducted using Tha Sa-det Market in Nong-khai province and Klua-din Market in Laos PDR as
a research area. A survey data was collected among entrepreneur including 28 observations in both areas. The feedback rate of the questionnaires is 96.43%. The results show that there
is a pronounced difference from internal factors. Despite the ease of entrepreneur in Nong-khai
to access a variety of suppliers, the entrepreneur in Laos can achieve a cheaper material cost
than the entrepreneur in Nong-khai while there were no significant differences in other factors.
Moreover, the examination of external factors revealed that tariff has profound impact on
entrepreneurs in the border trade area due to maximized weight and probability compared
to internal factors.
