Abstract

The objective of this research is to study the factors that affect Islamic admission, the adaptation of new Muslims after accepting Islam in the five provinces of the Andaman coast, both men and women during the years 2007 -2017.By using qualitative research methodology i.e. collecting data from documents, recording and interviewing target groups.  The research found that the admission to Islam of new Muslims in the Muslim community of the five Andaman coastal provinces is consistent. The main reason for accepting Islam is due to the cause of marriage, whereas other causes such as previous study about Islam and believe, after converted to Islamic Faith is less in number. Consequently, those who are new Muslims whether because of marriage or other causes/ reasons must adapt themselves to Islamic way of life. The adaptation can be divided into 2 levels: (1) the adaptation of new Muslims to their own former family both individual and pubic level. (2) the adaptation of new Muslims to their former family in communication, interaction and lifestyle.  The aim of such adaptations is to be accepted in Muslim society by creating new identity to ensure the society that they are steadfastly a good Muslim with well behave according to Islamic discipline. The adaptation and identity communication for being a new Muslim must express clearly and openly both in physical appearance and ways of life in order to be accepted from the society. Thus new Muslims must be brave and proud of being a devout Muslim in all aspects. Moreover, good communication and reaction to their new Muslim families and former families also play an important role because they can express significant value of life according to Islamic principles.
