Using a Hybrid Plug-in Learning Model in the New Normal Era of Learning

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to: 1) To develop and evaluate the Hybrid Plug-in Learning Model and associated learning packages for the New Normal era; 2) To investigate academic achievement using the Hybrid Plug-in Learning Model in the course DTC2402: Advanced Digital Technology and Computing for Education; and 3) to assess student satisfaction toward the implemented learning model. Methodology: The participants involved in the evaluation phase consisted of nine faculty members from the Faculty of Education. The efficiency of the learning packages was tested with a try-out group of 30 students, and the data were subsequently analyzed using statistical methods.

          Results: The findings revealed that: 1) The Hybrid Plug-in Learning Model is a highly flexible instructional framework characterized by a "plug-in" mechanism that systematically integrates diverse pedagogical techniques. By synchronizing online and on-site learning through Project-Based Learning (PjBL), the model effectively fosters active learning as students lead their own project activities. Expert evaluations rated the model's appropriateness at the highest level. Furthermore, the developed learning packages achieved an efficiency rating of E1/E2 = 82.80/86.11, which exceeded the established criteria. 2) Academic achievement analysis of the experimental group (n= 30) showed that post-test scores were significantly higher than pre-test scores at the .05 level of statistical significance. 3) The assessment of student satisfaction indicated that the learners' satisfaction toward the Hybrid Plug-in Learning Model was at a high level.
