AGROTOURISM: DRIVING TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY THROUGH LEARNING RESOURCES IN THE COMMUNITY TO INCREASE SUSTAINABLE INCOME

Abstract
This article aims to present types and components of agro-tourism, a model of successful tourism community as well as the importance and the guidelines for developing agro-tourism as a type of tourism that increase income for the community by studying and researching documents, academic articles, research articles, as well asudying agro-tourism destinations. The findings revealed that agro-tourism was invented with the aim to satisfy the tourists once they visit natural or agricultural tourist attractions. The community is responsible for unique tourist attractions which are the cultural resources related to agricultural ecosystem and environment under the participatory management by the locals that create awareness of ecosystem preservation. The agricultural ways of life are presented intimately by agriculturists while tourists get the opportunity to learn about agriculture based on the local wisdom from the proud and experienced farmers so that they can apply the knowledge to their lives and gain awareness in understanding and conserving the natural environment which are connected together to form ecosystem. Meanwhile, they have the opportunity to gain access to the lives of the locals and the community atmosphere and the distribution of both raw and processed agricultural products. Furthermore, it is the readiness development of the local area to be the learning resources which are considered the low-cost tourism in order to respond to the interest of the inhabitants of urban area who are interested in rural lifestyles and love to stay in touch with nature as well as participate in recreational activities in community and seek peaceful and safe life. In addition, it helps enhancing life experiences from the agricultural knowledge activities obtained.
The essential benefits from agro-tourism affect the economy of the community, the conservation of natural resources, local environment and culture, and the development of skills, knowledge, and capability of society and community. The approach to develop the potential of agro-tourism consist of: 1) promoting community participation in determining tourism policy together with the government and relevant sectors; 2) getting ready to become agro-tourism tourist attractions; 3) studying and reviewing strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, problems, and obstacles as well as the plan to develop and improve tourism continuously; 4) enhancing job opportunities for the locals; 5) creating marketing in the digital age for tourism expansion; 6) designing tourism that is up-to-date; and 7) promoting the maximum utilization of the local resources.
