An Educational Coaching Approach Based On Buddhism In The 21st century

Abstract

This academic paper aims to present an educational coaching approach based on Buddhism in the 21st century. This is a new role of teacher that has changed to match the modern era where students are centered. Teachers have reduced their role as an instructor but are more of a mentor and promote learning based on the students' interests and abilities as a coach. Education and discussion in academic circles led to the presentation of this approach on the basis of Buddhism as a body of knowledge, emphasizing the development of a modern educational system. The analysis and synthesis of knowledge can be a model. The skills or expertise of being a professional coach according to Buddhism is “MERA MODEL” consisting of M-Management which is learning resource management to prepare in 4 areas, namely coachee, coacher, content and material, E - Equilibration is to create a balance of complete training goals with knowledge and moral,                R - Realization is to understand and see from the skills of transfer that simplify and manifest, A - Adversity is the ability to overcome obstacles by using decision-making skills to address both the anticipated problem and the unexpected problem.
