Abstract

This article studies educational and skill mismatches by using primary data of 226 surveyed employees in Maptaphut Industrial Estate, Rayong Province. The findings are as follow: 1) Educational and specific mismatches have negative impact on monthly salaries such that over-education is statistically significant at the 0.05 level whereas under-education is statistically insignificant; and 2) Specific training for some job positions also indicates educational and specific training mismatches on monthly salaries. This would cause a necessity for firms to invest on training for employees.
