MEASURING AND DETERMINING TRANSFER PRICING ON INTANGIBLE ASSETS IN THE DIGITAL ECONOMY

Abstract

This academic paper has the objective of bringing awareness to taxpayers in Thailand about the recognition and measurement of intangible assets which is increasingly important in today’s digital economy. In particular, Thailand has participated in the Base Erosion and Profit Shifting Project (BEPS) of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Such participation results in clearer guidelines in the recognition and measurement of intangible assets. Therefore the taxpayer avoidance on intangible assets for the multinational corporation and the guidelines are adopted by the federal tax authorities. Disputes among government tax authorities could be reduced. In addition, it provides useful information to investors.

In addition, this academic paper contributies to future research such as investigation of the impact on Thailand after joining the BEPS Project, the method of measuring fair value of intangible assets in the digital economy, and the impact of application, recognition, and measurement by BEPS Project.
