Health Care Service Provision and Demand for Health Service in the Map Ta Phut, Rayong

Abstract

In this paper, the questionnaire and the Logit Model are used together to analyze the present health service systems in Map Ta Phut. According to the results of the Logit Model, the working places are the only factor influencing all three stages of the model, i.e., the chance for being sick, physician visits and being an inpatient of the citizens of Map Ta Phut, while age is considered a secondary important factor. According to the questionnaire, the three most important problems of the Map Ta Phut Hospital are delayed services, shortage of physicians and nurses as well as inconvenient place. The problems of clinics are high expenditures, crowded users, compacted places and not having specialized physicians, while those of the heath stations are insufficient, slow services and short of physicians and staffs. In the meantime, the suggestions to solve the Map Ta Phut Hospital are to improve its service in terms of quickness, comforts and conveniences and to increase physicians and nurses. The suggestions for clinics are to increase specialized physicians, to improve services and usable spaces, and for the heath stations are to improve services as well as to increase physicians, medicines including medical equipment. The suggestions of the study are: (1) to increase physicians and nurses including medicines and medical equipment (2) To improve physical spaces of the present Map Ta Phut Hospital as well as to constructing new health stations and (3) to establish health funds to help those affected directly.
