A DEVELOPMENT OF CRITICAL THINKING PROCESS TEST ON ELECTRICITY FOR STUDENTS AT HIGHER EDUCATION LEVEL

Abstract

The purposes of this study were to develop a test of critical thinking process on electricity for students at higher education level. Development of open-ended questions with 6 situations for creating a multiple-choice of 50 items. Participants in the study were 40 sophomore students from Faculty of Engineering, Dhurakij Pundit University of academic year 2012.The sampling method was the purposive one.

The findings of the study were as follows. The Developed critical thinking test was a multiple-choice situational one of 16 items covering three areas: 1) problem identification 3 items, 2) collecting information 5 items, and 3) summary and evaluation 8 items. The content validity as determined by experts regarding to the correspondence between the test and attributes showed correspondence index values from 0.67 to 1.00. The item difficulty ranged in value from 0.23 to 0.73 The item discriminative power ranged in value from 0.20 to 0.52. The reliability of the test by Kuder-Richardson’s KR-20 formula was 0.73.
