PRODUCTS OF ISAN’S LATERIT

Abstract

This article aimed to Isan’s laterite - natural raw materials which have been used in road construction. The laterite are widely found in Isan areas of Thailand where is the main source of laterite - to the process of product-making and development that is appropriate for local product-making. This can add some values e.g. creativity, imagination and beauty. The sources of laterite stone revealed that a majority of sources of laterite stone is located far away from villages’community in deserted areas where there are not agricultural areas. The average size of a laterite stone is 1/5-1/4 inch; the stone has full-moon shape; its color is dark brown since there is high ferrite. The Isan’s laterite product-making can give value addition to new products which were made by the new materials, resulting from the combination of cement materials and the laterite stone which can be found and produced locally and helps add values to Isan local natural resources.
