Buddhist Philosophy of Sufficiency Economy and Organization Development

Abstract

This paper aims to take the initiative in applying the Buddhist philosophy of sufficiency economy to an area of organization development. In the first part, the author tries to make sense of the Buddhist philosophy of sufficiency economy from bis point of view. Simultaneously, be reviews and explores the basic ideas and development of organization development’s body of knowledge. The author then comes to one crucial point of the Buddhist philosophy of sufficiency economy, that is, it is the Buddhist philosophy that adheres to the principle of the middle path”. By contrast, the fundamental principle of organization development, which is dominated by the western philosophy, tends toward dualism that believes strongly in the principle of “the one best way”. In order to overcome the limitation of the body knowledge of organization development, the author thus tries to propose an experimental model that brings the very idea of the Buddhist philosophy of sufficiency economy to readjust the focus of organization development.
