Student Parents’ Opinions toward Lower Secondary Level Students’ Desirable Conducts, Phonprachanukul Municipality School, Phon District, Khon Kaen Province

Abstract

The purposes of this thematic paper were as follows: 1) to study lower secondary level students’ desirable conducts according to opinions of their parents, whose children were studying at Phonprachanukul Municipality School in Khon Kaen province’s Phon district, 2) to compare their desirable conducts based on their parents’ opinions, resting on the latter’s differing genders, ages and careers and, 3) examine suggestions on the former’s desirable conducts based on the latter’s opinions. The sampling group employed for the research comprised 191 student parents, selecting it by means of stratified sampling following the former’s genders and the year classes, then carrying out the selection by way of proportionately simple random sampling through drawing raffles.  The instrument used for collecting data was the five rating scale questionnaire containing twenty questions, in which each of them was endowed with the power of discrimination between 1.78 and 5.19, and the reliability for the entire questionnaire at 0.85. The statistical tools utilized for computing data encompassed mean, standard deviation and testing the research hypothesis with F-test (One-way ANOVA). The research results were found as follows: 1) Lower secondary level students’ desirable conducts based on their parents’ opinions on them for their children studying at the school were rated average in the overall aspect.  2) The hypothesis testing results found that no significant differences in the overall aspects over student parents’ differing genders, ages and careers were shown correlated with student parents’ opinions toward lower secondary school students’ desirable conducts.
