Guidelines for Managing Community Participation for Tourism Sustainability of Bang Saphan District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province

Abstract

These research objectives were to study Current situation Guidelines for managing community participation for tourism sustainability of Bang Saphan District Prachuap Khiri Khan Province Research methodology was a mixed research. Data collection was related to documents in-depth interviews from key informants. Content analysis was conducted by summarizing the important data. In addition, data were collected from 388 people in the community residing in Bang Saphan District by using a questionnaire. Data were analyzed by finding percentage, mean, and standard deviation, and then using the information to classify the opinions. The results showed that 1) current situation of citizens in Bang Saphan District: the overall picture is at the "high" level (=3.68, S.D.=0.94). The potential for sustainable tourism development of Bang Saphan District, the overall picture is in the "high" level, with an average score between =3.59-=3.97.2). Guidelines for managing community participation for tourism sustainability: the integration of cooperation between government, private sectors, and public sectors in encouraging participation of all sectors in order to jointly develop sustainable tourism and discover 8 ways to manage community participation for sustainability in the followings: 1) the community should instill and raise the awareness of the new generation, 2) it should create awareness in conservation, 3) it should be a good host of the people in the area, 4) it aims to create mutual benefits, 5)  it creates a good understand to the community, 6) government and the public sector should be integrated, 7) government should proactively publicize and 8) it should create a logo for the locality.
