FROM CHAOS TO LINE, A (NOT) BLEND OF THAI SOCIETY

Abstract

This article - From ‘Chaos’ to ‘Line’, A (not) Blend of Thai Society: Intent to study the change in thinking mindset of Thailand, from the past to the present. By study along with Western philosophical paradigm, in order to find strength and weakness to develop the appropriate way to create Thai society to be a wisdom society. Study methodology is document study in 2 steps. First is to study Thai mindset in 4 era: Sukhothai Era, Ayudhaya Era, Thonburi Era and Rattanakosin Era, and compare to 5 western paradigm: Primitive paradigm, Ancient paradigm, Medieval paradigm, Modern paradigm, and Post-modern paradigm. Result is a clearly see the root of problem. Second is to study strength and weakness of Thai mindset in order to create an appropriate way to make Thai society be a wisdom society. The result found that strength of the country is a strong faith in Bhuddist especially in the ultimate wisdom, enlightment. The weakness is that people had been changed 2 paradigms in a few year. According to the result, public policy is to abort the idea to industrialize Thailand, as well as to cultivate the concepts of consumerism, have to perceive science as it is, just a tool; and bring back the idealism once again. For education policy is developing and promoting the course of, hermeneutics; which is methodology of interpretation without any presupposition in both formal and informal education in every level.
