The impact of perceived ethical leadership of corporate managers on employee creativity in Yunnan Province, China: The mediating role of psychological safety

Abstract

 As far as China is concerned, in today’s social media ecosystem, the media companies have numerous challenges because the information technology keeps improving at a rapid pace, there is always more digital changing and what people who get news want is always changing, too. According to the social exchange theory, we select three SOEs in Yunnan province of China, use convenience sample method to do this study with 689 workers. Develops a model to explore how ethical leadership impacts employee creativity and the mediating effect of psychological safety. Based on the empirical results of study, we can see that: 1. Perceived ethical leadership positively predicted employee creativity (B=0.542, p<.001); 2. Psychological safety intensified the relationship between ethical leadership and employee creativity (B=0.245, p<.001). And they made contributions to the ethical leadership and creativity study with Chinese context, it shows that the Chinese media leader has to strengthen the psychological safety so as to activate the employee’s creativity and boost the enterprise’s competitive advantage.
