The Effects of Using a Guidance Activities Package Based on Teamwork to Improve the Relationships among Friends of Grade 10 Students at Pua School in Nan Province

Abstract

The purposes of this research were threefold: firstly, to compare the levels of relationships among friends of students in the experimental group before and after using a guidance activities package based on teamwork; secondly, to compare the level of relationships among friends of the experimental group students after utilizing the guidance activities package based on teamwork with that of the control group students following standard guidance activities; and thirdly, to investigate the students' satisfaction with and suggestions for using the guidance activities package. The research sample comprised 80 Grade 10 students from two intact classrooms at Pua School in Pua District, Nan Province, during the second semester of the academic year 2022, selected through cluster random sampling, with each classroom randomly assigned as the experimental or control group, containing 40 students each. The research instruments included: 1) a guidance activities package based on teamwork consisting of 12 activities with high quality; 2) a scale to assess relationships among friends, exhibiting an index of consistency (IOC) between 0.60 and 1.00 and a reliability coefficient of .81; and 3) a questionnaire on student satisfaction with and suggestions for the guidance activities package, with an IOC between 0.60 and 1.00 and a reliability coefficient of .91. Data analysis involved percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, and content analysis.

The research findings revealed that: 1) after using the guidance activities package based on teamwork, the post-experiment scores on relationships among friends for the experimental group students significantly surpassed their pre-experiment scores at the .05 level of statistical significance; 2) the post-experiment scores on relationships among friends for the experimental group students, who utilized the guidance activities package, were significantly higher than the scores of the control group students who engaged in standard guidance activities at the .05 level of statistical significance; and 3) the experimental group students expressed high satisfaction with the guidance activities package based on teamwork for enhancing relationships among friends, providing suggestions such as enhancing the time allocation for activities and duplicating the guidance activities document in color for clearer visualization.
