THE PROMOTING STRATEGIES OF TEAM - BASED LEARNING OF FACULTY OF MEDICINE

Abstract

The purposes of this research were 1) to study characteristics of teaching and learning by using team based learning (TBL) of Faculty of Medicine, 2) to study the current conditions and problems of teaching and learning management by using the TBL and 3) to propose strategies promoting teaching and learning management by using the TBL. Besides, the key informants were administrative committee, medical instructors, and medical students, Faculty of Medicine from five universities. The research instruments were the interview forms, the observation forms and the study result. Furthermore, this research showed that there were 5 elements: 1) The curriculum 2) Teaching and learning management 3) Educational technology 4) Research 5) Evaluation of teaching and learning, State of teaching and learning and teaching and learning problems were as follow: 1) Not enough medical instructors, 2) Confined classroom, 3) Medical students have to study by self – directed study, 4) Medical students have to take many subjects, 5) Medical instructors have to research on teaching and learning by using a team as a small number of bases, 6)The development of instructional media application and 7) Evaluation of teaching and learning were discontinued. There were four strategies in promoting teaching and learning: 1) to develop and improve the learning management process following the international standards; 2) to accelerate the development of information technology systems enhancing the learning atmosphere and the assessment; 3) to develop systems and mechanisms to enhance research participation and the last one was to promote the management of learning networks by using the TBL of Faculty of Medicine.
