DESIRED CHARACTERISTIC OF TEACHERS AS PERCEIVED BY STUDENTS AND INSTRUCTORSAT BANGKOK UNIVERSITY

The purposes of this research were 1) to study and rank the desired characteristics of teachers as perceived by students and teachers in overall and 5 aspects of academic, instruction techniques and skills, measurement and evaluation, personality and leadership, and morality, and 2) to compare the means of the perceived desirable characteristics of teachers in overall and aspect-wise among group of students with different sex, year of study, and learning achievement. The random sample for this study consisted of 300 first semester, academic year 2011, 1st – 4th year students and 18 teachers in the regular program from the Faculty of Commerce. The research instrument was a 5-point rating scale-type questionnaire with an aspect-wise reliability between 0.83 to 1.00. Descriptive statistics, mean comparison using t-test and analysis of variances were used for data analysis. The major findings were as follows
