INFORMATION-SEEKING BEHAVIOR AND INFORMATION USE AMONG NURSING TEACHERS AND STUDENTS AT ASIA-PACIFIC INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY

The objectives of this study are to look at the library user behavior of nursing teachers and students, to find problems, methods, research styles including use of information sources and make recommendations regarding the search for and the use of information in the Mission Faculty of Nursing Library of Asia – Pacific International University. The samples were randomly selected using ‘Stratified Random Sampling’ methodology that categorized the group into 2 types of professions: 1. Faculty, and 2. Students. The information was collected from these two sample groups. The instruments which facilitated collecting data from each teacher and student were a questionnaire and an interview. The statistical values which were used were frequency, percentile, mean, and standard deviation, t – test, F – test, and mean of Chi - squares.
Most of the respondents were found to use information-seeking and usage behavior in up-dating their knowledge, preferring to search the internet for information; however, they used library resources such as books and journals the most. The study showed that articles available online were used 3-4 times in a week. The respondents also encountered obstacles such as information not being relevant, lack of skills in evaluating and selecting materials, inadequacies of illustrative information like pictures, CDs/DVDs, models, etc. in the Nursing Library.
